Tory platform wrong for working families
TORONTO, June 9 /CNW/ - John Tory has shown he can't be counted on to
stand up for working families with a platform that's wrong on the issues.
"John Tory is wrong on the issues that matter to working families," said
NDP MPP Paul Ferreira. "Whether he's supporting expensive unreliable nuclear
plants, private hospitals or a double-digit pay increase for himself, John
Tory hasn't provided the real alternative to the McGuinty Government that
working families need."
Tory's platform is wrong on the issues.
- Wrong on the environment. Tory calls for more nuclear power and has
no plans to close Nanticoke coal-fired plant, Ontario's biggest
polluter. Ontario already has a Premier committed to mega-nuclear
schemes and no plan on coal.
- Wrong on health care. Tory calls for more public-private partnerships
that take money out of public healthcare and into private profits.
Ontario already has a Premier who's approved 23 private hospitals and
de-listed services like eye exams.
- Wrong for working families. John Tory showed his misplaced priorities
when he supported Dalton McGuinty's 40,000 dollar pay hike - and
opposed an immediate increase in the minimum wage.
Howard Hampton and Ontario's NDP are the only party that puts working
families first.
