John Tory in hiding with radical candidate Randy Hillier
Holds secret gathering with Hillier - third secret since June
TORONTO, July 11 /CNW/ - Today during a campaign-style swing through
Eastern Ontario Conservative Leader John Tory held a secret gathering with his
radical right wing candidate Randy Hillier. It was not on his public
itinerary, and no outside photographers were allowed in.
This is the third in a string of John Tory secrets in the last two
months. The Conservative leader is trying to keep secret the cost of his
election promises - it has already been 24 days since he promised to reveal
the cost of his platform.
Then, last month, Tory barred reporters and any Liberals from a
fundraiser with Mike Harris for fear there would be a photo of them together.
"There is a pattern emerging. The real John Tory is being exposed no
matter how much he tries to hide," said Liberal MPP and Deputy Premier George
Smitherman.
"We know John Tory is hiding how much his election promises would cost,
because he knows his numbers don't add up. Now we see John Tory is hiding the
candidates he thinks will hurt his election chances," said Smitherman. "What
else is he hiding from Ontario voters?"
Hillier, a radical right wing Conservative candidate, has previously said
he opposes government support for "Native, Arts, Homosexual, Urban and Multi
cultures" and opposes water, meat and food inspections.
"Randy Hillier is part of the Conservative agenda to take Ontario
backwards. As much as John Tory tries to hide it, the truth is being exposed,"
said Smitherman.
