Women's Groups, Police Association, Victims of Gun Violence and Coalition for Gun Control Appalled that Opposition Leaders to Help Dismantle the Gun Registry

TORONTO, Nov. 4 /CNW/ - The House of Commons will vote today on private member's bill C-391, which would abolish the requirement to register long-guns, undermining the Firearms Act as a whole. Public safety groups are appalled that just a few months after Opposition parties voted to pass a Bloc Quebecois motion supporting the gun registry, today they are expected to vote in favour of bill C-391. Just weeks from the 20th anniversary of the Montreal massacre, mothers and families of the victims of gun violence are travelling to Ottawa for this historic vote.

Among the groups that have stated their opposition to this bill and its deleterious effects on public safety are:
